Texas Licensing: a good choice for the catastrophic claims adjuster

Your career starts here with our Total Adjuster Training Package. We understand that a license by itself will not prepare you for your claims career, and this series of courses was designed with you in mind. First, we walk you through the state license, which will familiarize you with the terms and practices of the industry. Then we lead you through the process of adjusting a property claim in our “how to scope a loss” practical adjusting class. Think of it as a how-to class walking you through your first claim. It also covers a ton of “must-knows” for turbo-charged success in the claims industry that will save you time and get you ramped-up for success quickly. Finally, our Xactimate 27 class gets you ready to write estimates with the software mandated by many insurance carriers. Don’t be left behind because you don’t know how to use Xactimate. These three classes are especially designed to give you a huge advantage toward success in your new career as an insurance adjuster .

About the Texas Insurance Adjuster License

Why should I get a Texas License?

A.     The Texas Insurance Adjuster License is among the adjusting industry's most sought after license - for Texas residents and non-residents alike. Extremely versatile, this insurance license is reciprocal with more states than any other state license. This allows a Texas licensed insurance adjuster to work in a wide geographical range without having to observe other states' standard insurance licensing procedures. Perhaps more importantly, Texas allows candidates for licensure to take approved pre-licensing courses rather than the conventional state insurance adjuster exam. State exams are notoriously difficult while pre-licensing courses are designed to be as "student friendly" as possible.

How do I get a Texas insurance adjuster license?

A. ITU offers the Texas Adjuster pre-licensing course in a friendly, enjoyable classroom setting that satisfies the exam requirement and fulfills all obligations for obtaining your Texas Adjuster License.

Which classes do I take?

A. If your new and just getting started in your Insurance Adjusting career, we recommend you take the Total Adjuster Training Package. We understand that a license by itself will not prepare you for your first job. This series of courses was designed with you in mind. It will walk you through the state license which will familiarize you with the terms and practices of the industry first. Then you will go directly to the Practical Adjusting course which will walk you through the process of adjusting your first property. Think of it as a practical walkthrough of your first job including all the tips and tricks to make it as easy as possible. Finally, you will take the Xactimate 25 class which is the software mandated by many insurance carriers. With these three classes, we feel confident you will have the best chance of success.

What is the license and what kind of claims will it allow me handle?

A. The Texas All-Lines Insurance Adjuster License (offered in our classroom course or online) is a two-year, renewable insurance license issued to those people who have passed:

1.    their Texas adjuster pre-licensing course or
2.    their adjuster licensing exam (administered by Thompson-Prometric).

With this license, adjusters are certified to work residential, commercial, automobile, farm and ranch, inland marine, ocean, and worker's compensation claims. The Texas Property and Casualty Adjuster License (offered in our online Virtual University) differs only in that it does not qualify adjusters to handle worker's compensation claims. The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) stipulates 30 hours of (continuing education units (CEUs) for adjusters per 2 year period.
